Default ABS - Brake dash light on

Just wanted to add this in for those that have problems with ABS / Brake light trouble code.

Dodge wanted $130 to do a scan on my ABS system. I'm like WTF. I stopped in at a local brake shop, they wanted to scan my ABS system for free. I felt bad and tipped the guy $20. It turned out the Driver side front sensor went out. I decided to replace both since i was going to have my D jacked up.

I made the following video on how to replace your ABS sensor on a 2000 Dodge Durango.

Thanks for the vid fastyz400.

SIDE NOTE FOR THE MODERATORS... move this to the Gen1 section. This is incorrectly in the Gen2 section.

Keep in mind for the record, this is only for an ABS sensor issue. There are many more causes for a ABS/Brake light combination to come on, great video for replacement however.

just wondering, i have the same lights on in my 98. for some reason, the lights (abs and brake) go off when its a cooler temperature outside. it stays on when its pretty hot outside. would this affect the sensors malfunctioning?

Go to a local brake shop and get it scanned. The dealer wants way to much for a simple scan of your abs. When I say local, i don't mean the chain stores. They will try to screw you as well.

The brake shop i went to had a snapon scranner that was able to read my ABS codes. The left front had intermittent signal, according to the scanner.

I had replaced my wheel bearings with cheapo bearings which came with new ABS sensors about 5 month earlier. The bearings were fine, but the cheap ABS sensors failed. So, I replace both fronts with factory ABS sensors.

1st off, you need to know if your ram is front wheel or Rear wheel abs only. Goto the brake shop like i suggested. They will tell you which wheel has the faulty abs sensor, or if there is something else wrong.

Remember that a faulty RWSS will cause those lights to come on or a bad wiring harness for the earlier models. Check that first.
