Default Ticking when in park

2002 Durango R/T 5.9.

A ticking noise coming from the motor when in park only. I thought it was the belt, so I replaced that. I also replaced the belt idler pulley. Any other ideas? it is still there. Belt tensioner maybe?

I had to run mine with the belt off for a minute to isolate a noise between the engine and mounted accessories, only ran for about 30 seconds , no noise with the belt off.....My noise seems to be comming from the rear side of my a/c compressor....(long screw driver against the ear or a steth)

Not a good idea at all running with the belt off but it's a fast way to check things off the list....Did you run it before you installed the new belt and pulley?

+1 on running it without the belt on for a few minutes to isolate if its the engine or the accessories, just dont drive the truck with the belt off (and i would suggest doing it first thing in the am or at least on a cold engine)

I've got a slow a/c leak, and the a/c compressor ticks at idle when it gets low. I just turned off the a/c and it goes away.

Yep take off the belt and see if the noise is engine or pulley related.

my 5.9 makes a ticking clicking also. Traced the ticking to the passenger side. After listening to everything, I think it is my fuel injectors that is making the ticking/clicking noise.
