The IAC is on the back of your throttle body and looks like plunger and goes into the port. When you take the TB off, you remove the IAC with the 2 Torex screws. You then get 2 cans of TB cleaner or Carb cleaner and an old tooth brush and clean it out and don't forget the IAC port which will be black.

Also use the straw that comes with your cans of cleaner to spray out all the ports and air passage ways you can find. Now you clean (or replace) the IAC plunger, but do not push in on it, you will break it! Just be careful with the sensor. Then put it back on the intake manifold with a new gasket.

The TSP is on the drivers side and the MAP sensor is on the front of the TB. These 2 you don't clean, only the IAC. Now when you remove it take off the MAP sensor so you can clean out the port but you do not need to take off the TPS on the drivers side.

Okay, I cleaned out the port last night. It wasn't too dirty. I changed the gasket and reinstalled.

Same ploblem this morning going to work. I let the truck warm up a couple of minutes, drove down the road about 1 min and it spuddered for about 20 seconds and then okay.

Any other ideas? What about my converter questions?

it should help, anytime you change a sensor or change how a sensor works (cleaning it, adjusting it) you need to reset the pcm

yes you should always reset the computer when you mess with sensors
To reset your Computer
Remove the negative terminal of your battery (10mm wrench).
Turn your ignition key to START and hold it there for about 15 seconds.
Turn your ignition key to OFF and remove it.
Connect the negative terminal of your battery.
Start but do not hit the throttle. Idle for about 10/15 seconds then turn off.
Restart the truck and drive as usual. It will take at least 12 starts and 48 miles to fully retune the computer. Hard Codes leave a shaddow for 40 full cold starts.

After the PCM reset if it doesn't change replace the IAC.

We are doing "baby steps", if this doesn't work then we go to the next thing, and everything we do adds up, not to mention will make your truck run like a super star. Just walk with us.

Okay I'll do the reset again as I think I pressed the gas. What are "Hard Codes leave a shaddow for 40 full cold starts"? I have a computer reader that attaches to my laptop. Can I use this for anything?

I only drive the truck once every second week so it makes it that much harder to troubleshoot. I've driven all this week so far and the problem is still there. The gas mileage is rediculous, i've used 1/4 of a tank for 55km.

The bettery is about 5 years old and it started no problem at -35. The alternator is original though.
