98 Durango Running rough 5.9
the battery voltage is read by the PCM and is regulated down to the 5v sensor rail, if the battery is weak (it can and probably will still read 12v with a simple volt meter) the sensor rail will get a different number than the 5v that is expected, this will throw off the sensor outputs that the PCM uses to run the engine correctly, if the PCM is not running the engine 100% correctly it is not running it efficiently, lack of efficiency = increased fuel consumption.
Okay I checked the battery and it passed the load test. I decided to let the gas get low and added gas line atifreeze. No change. I recently filled up and i am burning 28.5 litres per 100 km. It used to be 18. Please advise.
Samething, sits on the back of the TB, AIP Electronics on Ebay have them for 17 bucks plus free shipping. I got one and put it on my truck, feels like it is doing its job. But I know you can get them at advance for like 80 bucks.
Yes I'm in Canada. I ordered one online for $30 just have to wait for the postal service. BTW, I decided to replace the battery and the problem did not go away. I'm crossing my fingers that the IAC with solve the problem. I am getting 8 MPG and may have to start hitching a ride at this rate.
Well replace the IAC first. I'm thinking it could very well be bad and not opening like it should therefore stumbling the motor.
Also I would replace both your pre-cat O2 sensors. Get them from www.rockauto.com and get the cheap Desno that in it's description is the OEM, not the Universal sensors and install. On line you can search "Rockauto coupons" for a coupon and get an addition 5% off to help with shipping.
