99 Durango 5.2L Intake problems
I have a 99 Durango 5.2L that was losing water. I would have to put water in the radiator every couple weeks. I broke it apart last weekend to change the intake manifold gasket. I saw that there are 4 square ports on the sides of the heads, one on each corner. Well they were full of water. At this point there is no water in the oil. I finished it up last night, changing all 5 of the gaskets. Put it all back together and tried her out.
I smelled a burning smell, shut it off and checked the oil. I found water in the oil. I left it alone. I checked the oil this morning and didn't see any water. Maybe the oil and water separated or something in the pan.
I'm thinking maybe the silicon on the gaskets weren't cured enough and shot the water somewhere or something. I'm also getting a P0505 code now. And I read that the intake plenum could be causing that.
Has anyone else had this problem or know how I can fix it? It's really got me in a bind now.
Thanks

This means the IAC is not operating correctly. Clean and or replace.
I agree with master, it is very easy to accidentally move the gaskets when you drop the intake onto the motor. When you place them you don't put any gasket sealant on them, the only place you put gasket sealant is on each corner where the gaskets meet. Then you tighten the bolts in a torquing pattern and increased torque rate to spec's. The best idea is to get a dowl from the hardware store and cut them and place 1 on each side corner through the bolt hole and into the treads and ginetly put the intake manifold down.
The reason the coolant was in those ports is coolant runs through the intake manifold, when you took it off the water spilled out. Ensure the intake manifold ports are clean and no build up as well as the head ports and re-due the intake gaskets.

Ok, after some reading and looking, I think I may have connected a hose in the wrong spot. I have some pictures now.

In the red cirlce, is a valve on the driver side valve cover. From what I read, the passenger side PCV valve goes to the air filter box. I have a K&N cold air intake now, so I don't use the factory air box. Is this valve a PCV valve also, and where does it connect. This is on the drivers side.
Next Picture:

This is a valve on the intake. I have no idea what it is or where it goes. I had it connected to the PCV valve on the passenger side valve cover. I'm thinking I may have been pumping water into the valve cover.
Thanks for your help so far, and hope you can help me here.

Ok,
They changed the side on the PVC from one side to the other on the 2000-2003 models, however on the 1998-1999 the PCV valve was on the passenger side. So, on the passenger side valve cover there should be the PCV valve, if you shake it will rattle. This vacuum line (passenger side) should go to that empty nipple on the intake manifold (picture #2).
Picture #1 is on the drivers side. This is the crank case breather line and should go to the air intake after the filter but before the throttle body.

I fixed the previous problem. I had two broken bolts in the block for the intake. I fixed them and got new gaskets. No more water in the oil.
But I had to remove the distributor to get to the broken bolt. I put it back in somewhat the same way, didn't realize it had to go back in the same exact way. It won't start. I found TDC multiple times, and put the rotor on plug 1. Nothing. No spark.

This is TDC, right?
Well, I check for spark from the coil. Nothing. So I got a new coil today, and put it on. Still nothing.
I went over what I did, looking for any plug I may have missed. I found one, but I think it was unplugged before I started.

What is this for? Is it suppose to be unplugged?
Right now, the D sounds like it wants to start, but won't. There is no spark from plugs, no spark from distributor, no spark from coil and it's a new coil.
What else is there to check? Thanks.

Oh this plug is located in the driver back of the intake. Another plug comes out at the same place, for the distributor, they look similar, but this one won't plug into the distributor. Thanks.
That looks like the TPS harness on the drivers side of the Throttle Body.
You are going to have to index your distributor to get it back on time: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...er-please.html
