I had the same problem and it was the CV shaft on the pass side. I would check them first off.

does the noise get louder and rougher when you turn the wheel? And do you feel a wobble or shimmy while you drive. Mine broke as i was doing about 30 and it wasn't fun had to limp into a gas station just to get off the road. Just be carefull and if you feel it getting worse pull over your life is more valuble then where ever or what ever you have to do.

Thanks, I'm probably gonna just leave it at the shop and let them fix it. They tried to tell me today there was a $100 charge instead of the $50 they quoted me on the phone for diagnosing the problem.

I'm just worried about it being done correctly and the alignment afterward. I feel like the mobile mechanic screwed me over by charging for not fixing anything, if anything making it worse...

I do have to say I DO NOT like the new 2012s... They are ugly, the spoiler in the front goes WAY down to the ground and well, I just don't really like them. I LOVE my truck!

Ok, so the front drive shaft is shot... $870 to fix it. He said the part alone was $550

Drive shafts aren't cheap, but I don't know about suv's last time I saw a price for a drive shaft it was a segmented one for a semi.

i found the driveshaft for $504 online, so thats not bad markup at all (all shops markup parts to some extent, this one doesnt seem too bad)
