True.....LOL

what am i being volunteered for now?
How about experimenting with a different oil? Get a 0w-30 with the same ratings on the back label as the 5w-30 and try it to see if the cold start valve tap sound recedes.

id be willing to try it if 2 t hings werent true, i have a case of 10w30 sitting in the basement waiting to be used, and 2 0w30 is fully synthetic only iirc, thats expensive ****, i cant afford it right now (besides the fact my truck isnt due for another say 3.5k miles)

when i run out of 10w id be willing to try it

I have no idea where to get it other then a distributing company like:

Wachusett Fuel Oil Distribution, Inc.

Phone: (508) 829-7770 Fax: (508) 829-7772674 Main St., Holden, MA 01520

I was looking at Mobil and they don't have a 0W-30? In fact thinking about it I don't know anyone that does? And even at that you would have to research to ensure all the API ratings are the same. Besides, I really don't think there is going to be much difference between 5W and 0W anyway!

WOW...tff,Holden is like just over an hour from here....
I'm sure you're right on the diff tween 0 and 5, I mean, it would only drop the low
temp for normal anyway right? It get's cold here but even at that I'de have to go north 500 miles before Ide get to anything like that.iinm we don't even have a zone for that in this country.Even if we could get a 0w would it do us any good? Maybe for the extreme cold start right? I might be out there next weekend, now I want to go see their place....

I just used 0w-30 amsoil on my last change. Its thier signature series (at the time it was the only weight in their signature series). My uncle who was the original owner used the 0w-30 for 40k miles and no problems after using 10w-30 amsoil after break in. Just switched to the new sig series 5w-30 friday. The cold starts were very easy with the 0w-30. Always had oil pressure at 35psi when hot and 50+ the rest of the time.
