Default ABS light... yet another question/thread.

Ok, I've read through a lot of the threads here about the ABS and Brake lights. I've replaced the rear speed sensor and the output shaft sensor. Still intermittently comes on (more on than off though). Weird thing is usually I can drive it until I hit a bump, then it will come on. Sounds like a loose wire or something to me. I didn't find that in any of the other threads I looked at. is there anything on the front hubs that I should look at?

Anything else 'cheap' I can look at before taking it to the stealership, I'm pretty sure I won't pass inspection with the lights on.

Is it 4whl or 2whl abs? Sounds like a bad connection, check the connections at the module just to be sure.

If you don't have a abs code reader and few of us do.
call around to some brake shops or the stealership and see what they will charge to read the codes for you. It has save me some money and time before.
good luck with this.

Could be the wires from the rear diff ABS sensor to the main harness. You can buy this harness at Auto Zone and many other places. It is the entire wire all the way up to the main harness up front and all the way back to the sensor.

Look at the front wheels and see if there are wires coming from the wheel bearing or not.

Thanks Hydra, I'll check. Floor jack went out so I haven't done it yet.

One other thing to check,IF you have 4 wheel abs, after the p\o did the front sensors on mine they caused an intermittant light. They didn't clean the mounting area the sensors sit in and it somehow causes little probs like that from rust/corrosion/poor ground...I just worked my way in there and cleaned everything up,reinstalled the sensors and done,no intermittant light,ONLY applies to 4w abs
