99 durango problems please help!!!
I have a 99 dodge durango with the 5.9L. First off something was going bad with the charging system. Either the alternater or voltage regulater. I took the alternater off and had it tested and it passed. I put it back on and it worked fine for about a week then the voltage gauge dropped. I then drove it to oreillys and had them hook the computer to it. The computer said it had low volage (No ****? same as the guage said) Anyway the guy there thought its the computer since the voltage regulater is built in. I did some reading in the chilton manual and jumped the field wire to the neg post on battery. this should have jumped the alternater to full charge if the voltage regulater is bad. It did nothing. i then jumped the other wire and it didnt do anything either. Now the vehicle died and has no power to coil wire and no power to field on alternater with the key on. Im complete puzzled. If anyone could help me out i'd appreciate it.
I thought about that too but I couldn't find any fuse able links. Do you know where their at? I have power to the asd relay just not coil or alternater
Which wires are you talking about? Plug wires? If so that isn't going to do anything because i dont have any power to the coil. Im about ready to give up and take it to a dealer and let them figure it out.
No I haven't replaced any wires yet and I did swap out relays and still nothing. I put it on the trailer last night and its goin to a shop
