You would be better off rebuilding your motor, but if cost is an issue then look at your local junk yard for a 1998-2000 Durango or a 1997-1999 Dakota.

nope the 98 only came with the 5.2 and 5.9 they will NOT swap out with the 4.7 unless you do a complete driveline and electronics swap

You should see if you can contact Evon Trizmo.
No I don't know him but he is the guy that started this thread:
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...l-problem.html

It shows that he is in Ohio, not sure where but he posted in that same thread about a yard that he was just in that has a 99 Durango with a 5.2 in it.

Might be worth the effort.

Good luck.

It should fit, but some of the sensors will not fit and be plug in. You will have to do some playing with it, but it should fit.

Would you have to change the PCM going from a 5.2 to a 5.9?

I know goiing from 5.2L to 5.9L you don't, but you won't have the best performance either. So with that said I would say the same. Personally after install I would just get the PCM flashed by the dealer for the $60.
