First, 5.7l didn't come in the D till after 2004... 4.7l,5.9l where your options in 2001 IIRC....

Second, depends on your state if you can just retake the test but, in most states if you fail Emmisions and you have it re tested within 30 days at the SAME shop that it failed they will do a retest for free..

Finally, you can buy the sensors yourself, i have found them the cheapest at www.rockauto.com ... its simply screw old one out and screw new one in... check your service manual to find out if you have a 2 or 4 sensor system. Be sure to reset the PCM when you are done....

Yeah, its not hard.. just unhook the sensor wire and unscrew from the pipe. then screw the new sensor in and reconnect the sensor wire. make sure to reset the PCM when your done.

RESET THE PCM:

just disconnect the neg. side of the battery and turn the key to the "ON" position for 30 sec. Reconnect batt cable and let run for a few mins. Then drive around the block a few times.. The pcm will relearn all the settings.

BTW while the sensors can be removed without the special socket, they do make a socket with a cut out on it to allow it to slide onto the sensor and not have the sensor wire in the way..

I tried to replace my O2 Sensors today but they were rusted on extremely as and ended up stripping the threads almost completely...Any ideas on what to do next? Could I try and cut it off?

DO NOT CUT IT OFF!

Cutting it off if you ask me will only cause you more problems. Trying spraying PB Blaster on every day for one or two days then try. Trust me, PB Blaster works Miracles.

I changed then while WARM, and they came out fine with little trouble. Mind you I said WARM, I had drove around to do a few things during the day and let it set for a little while until I felt comfortable to get under there to work on the exhaust. I used a wrench (dont remember what size) and they came right out with some pressure. I would suggest warm it up a little but not HOT enough to hurt yourself of make it dangerous!!! On that note, always be cautious while working on ANY vehicle!!

TurboStixx I ever heard of PB Blaster. Is it like a WD-40? I did a quick look up and didnt read TOO much on it because its New Years night. lol. Would you say its better than a WD-40?

PB Blaster is exactly like WD-40...To an extent. I honestly think PB Blaster is stronger than WD-40, but that could just be my experience with the 2. It carry's a stronger smell than WD-40, but all in all is the same thing.

Example: My rear hatch lock got jammed last weekend, managed to pop it open from the inside (pulling the trim as far as I could to reach my hand down there and pop the rod). So I took some PB Blaster and sprayed they lock down with a few squirts (as many as it took to make me feel satisfied.) End Result. Lock works like new again. I just let it sit for about an hour and I was able to unlock again!

turbo, now that the lock works again, open the hatch, take off the panel and clean off the wd-40/pb blaster and lubricate the mechanism (neither one of them is a lubricant, they are a cleaner, water displacer, rust buster and when they dry it will make the assembly sticky.
