Default 01 Dodge Durango

So have read all the other threads on the tranny problems have even tried a few of the "quick fix" to determine if it was the PCM.....so here goes my problem like most i have the horrible start but seems ok after it get's going but won't shift into overdrive. but here recently have had a high pitch buzzing that comes and goes from underneath the dash left hand side. the other day my transmission decided to "fix" itself and worked great for all of one day during that time period no buzzing. Forgot to mention the buzz only comes at high speeds like around 55 or above like an electronic signal saying hey dipsht go in overdrive. Any Ideas would be helpful not looking to spend a lot of money on something that may just be electrical (believe this to be what the cause is) but can't figure out what under the dash would maybe cause the tranny to not shift properly

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/dodge-d...s-section.html

and if you have read threads on this forum you should have realized that your post is currently in the wrong place.

the only thing i can think of which buzzes in the dash (isnt really in the dash, but close enough) is the CTM located in the drivers side kick panel.

the local transmission expert is a user by the name of Master Tech PM him and see what he has to say about the issue.

also we need some information on your truck, specifically which transmission do you have? which driveline is it (4x4, 4x2??), which engine do you have, how many miles.

the 545 was not available in 01 afaik, please take some time to check in front of the PCM near the radiator for a TCM unit.

either that or you have a 2002/2003 truck and just put in the wrong year in the title?? (or the previous owner swapped the wire harness and engine out on you)

no the 2003 doesnt have a seperate TCM, it has the PCM and TCM in ONE unit, it is not plug and play for a 2001 without changing out the tone ring and the entire wire harness in the engine bay.

You can use a Grand Cherokee TCM in it, that would give you the 2nd OD gear. The trans. itself is identical though, no mechanical differences.

Yea, had a brain fart, it is an '03. Noticed last night when in neutral the 1st gear box barely illuminates; only noticed cause it was dark outside. Started to hunt down a grounding issue in the dash. But if anybody else has any ideas of where to look, it would be helpful. Sorry about the confusion about the year.

yup is extra gear boxes are illuminating then there is something shorting out which isnt supposed to be, ifyou download the 2002 factory service manual it should be pretty close to your truck (use the NGC where available and not the JTEC diagrams)
