Eh everyone, new to the forum and iv been doing alot of reading on the torsion and shackle lift.. i know there's a hundred and thirty threads about this but i just have a few questions about this before i do it.. my shackles should be here in a couple days.

Iv seen a few threads about removing the hitch, some say you can just back on the one bolt a bit then cut the head off and smack it out.. Good idear or noo? i am looking to do it quick(but not hack) its ucking coold out!

And What problems do you guys usually run into when doing this "lift" any heads up advise or tips would be appreciated!

Use the tool! Floor jacks like to walk but work. Take the time rent the torsion tool. Rear bolt
is replaceable, can you get a clean cut on the bolt? Thought I was the only one with reversed bolt, They do it just to **** us off. The same goes for Towncar a/c fix. 1/4 turn of motor and the dash wouldn't have to come out.

 

It is easyer to just cut the bolt off and pull it out. Then just put the new bolt in with the nut to the inside. Cranking the t bars for me was a pain cause had to do it by hand but it is doable. No matter what way you decide to go on the rear im sure someone here will say you did it wrong

 

Iv cranked torsions on my dakota before and it wasn't bad, just had to use a big breaker bar!

And yea your right, someone will disagree, but im looking for any tips to help it go by faster!

I picked up a Craftsman breaker bar with the ratchet head just because some one had one on the job(tool envy). Its perfect for torsions. Jack the truck up to height, remember to mark and count turns. You can always go back. Alignment is going to be effected with any adjustment. Small bars work with more effort.
Heads up on shocks, Pro Comp shocks work better than the ones that came with lift. Bigger shaft and body. yea I said shaft.

 

I just did my t/s lift. Put a cheater pipe on your ratchet to do the torsions (penetrating lube is your best friend throughout this project). I pulled the receiver hitch and spare tire. Gives you a lot more room.

 

I just finished my t/s lift a few hours ago.. it went real smooth.. i left the hitch on and just kept cutting the bolts( with a grinder, hack saw took way to long )!

But over all it went well, i will post up some pics of it tomorrow sometime!
