'00 Durango SLT 138,000 Switch to Syn Oil?
Yeah true that is one difference im just used to always lookin it up for my year D. Havent been bothered by the white gunk i just clean it off. If anyone has any input about switching the cap or the pcv relocation kit i might put it in.
Oh, one last tid bit before bedtime.
went with the napa gold filters on the vehicles and right off the bat I can report one good finding. The truck ALWAYS had a ticking noise at startup that went away once the truck warmed up. I just assumed there was a sticky lifter that wasn't pumping up quickly but it is now confirmed that the fram filters were simply back draining causing the taping untill oil worked its way back up the system. Once the new oil was put in and a different filter was used, the tick immediatly stopped. This is my opinion only but bothe the elantra and D were running the fram filters and boh ticked at start up. now both are quite other than a slight ticking noise I am convinced is coming from the fuel injectors. I gave both vehicles a dose of lucas treatment and now that too seems to be fsiding away already.

I switched to Mobil 1 Jul last year and have nothing but good things to say. Fuel has improved somewhat and the engine purs daily. When the tranny was rebuilt told the folks who did it Mobil 1 period. Next vehicle I get will be Mobil 1 as well and probably the Mobil 1 filter as well. I have used a K/N filter before but I seem to have better performance with a Mobil 1 filter. It's also the oil I told the gf to put in her 2011 D.
Ive always used mobil 1 on mine. Thinkin about switchin my moms car over to mobil 1 as well. Right now its got castrol which has been good without a doubt but i think theres way more potential with the mobil 1 high mileage. Other vehicles are the suburban which has penzoil and the f-350 which uses motorcraft...but my dad buys that oil i just assist with the maintenance.
