Default Not overheating, but I have a coolant leak?

I think I have some type of coolant leak. A very fine mist covers the engine but no real leak until I stop the D and let it sit for awhile. After sitting, I have a small puddle under the engine. The D is not over heating, but the overfill is slowly loosing volume. I can smell that burnt pancake smell. The liquid taste is sweet. Its like I have a leak near the fan and that is causing it to be a fine mist? The D is now 10 years old, never had the hoses changed. Bought and changed the radiator cap to no avail. Just please tell me it is a hose and not a water pump or the radiator.

I would pressure check the cooling system or have it pressure check. That will help you find the leak.

The usual suspect is the heater core.

Check the weep hole under your water pump and see if it shows signs of leaking.
