i would say it is NOT from inside the truck, it would have to be between the body and frame since afaik there is no access door in the rear deck area.

It's all accessible from underneath. Get some cardboard or an old blanket and back up onto some ramps to make it a little easier. That's what I did. Use your short stubby sockets or a ratchet wrench. It's tight in there. Hit me up with any other questions.

Mine was missing the spare completely..makes me kinda happy that I don't have to drop it to put the winch on this weekend, and YES, I will be looking for one soon. There is a guy close to here that is selling just a single dodge wheel, but the tire is crap..$25, I'm gonna go get it tomorrow. Then look for a 30/9.5 in good shape...

ok. i'll give it a go today. i'll also be doing the rear shocks today.

Durango03, i had sent you a PM about your exhaust, if you were still happy with the flowmaster. when i went thru inspection the underbody tell-tell camera showed a hole starting to form and rusty on the exhaust canister.

thanks

Update: I finally bought a winch from these guys. They were the lowest price anywhere - and I searched for weeks. I installed it myself last weekend. It was surprisingly easy. I didn't remove the old one myself because work was being done previously on my Durango so I had the mechanic remove it while he was under there. The winch arrived later & I painted it & added a thin sheet of neporene padding ( to delay rust) & bolted it on with new bolts. Also aired up the spare - a little higher than necessary in case it might lose some air. There was nothing to it really. Just when you start winching the tire up it doesn't stay level.

The good thing about this is that I had never before used or even messed with the spare. Now I'll know what to do in an emergency. Happy ending

Default Spare Tire Fell Off of my 2011 Ram (Tough?) 3500

Yup, my cable broke. Back end of truck was lifted for a moment from the impact of the tire bouncing back up into the bottom of the back bumper. Totaled the bumper and spare tire heat sheild. Tire went through an electric livestock fence. Glad no life was hurt. Just mine was in shock. 58000 miles. I had never dropped the spare nor inspected the cable (I will for now on). Dodge dealer won't do anything to help and Chrysler Corp. will not either. No big surprise, but i was hopeful they would back up their product. These companies have No Integrity any more.

You should have some sort of warranty I'd think. You'd be better off posting in the correct Ram section though if you're looking for answers.
