It does sound like a failing CTM however no one can ever be certain via remote online diagnosis.
Generally, they are dealer install only because of the programming to your key fobs, vin, miles, etc. $450 installed is a target price. I've seen $425 and I've seen $495 so roughly splitting the difference there.

My ctm went bad last year, so i took it out and blew the moisture on it with a air hose. Put it back in and haven't have problems since. ELectrical stuff is wierd sometimes you just need to press the reset switch. Although in theory the part is still bad, and can go on you at any time. However, considering that it is a 300-400 part, thats a risk id take.
