Default 01 Durango Trailer Wiring

Hello. Newbie here. Newbie Dodge owner.

Can anyone give me a little advice on wiring for trailer hitch? I put on an OEM trailer hitch I got at the local salvage yard. Now I need the wiring. Is there a connection underneath that allows me to simply put a Tee-Wire harness on? Or do I have to run the harness to each tail light connection? Any help would be appreciated. A 4wire flat plug is fine for me.

There should be a harness that feeds both tail lights. 1 wire will control the lights, 1 the brake light, 1 for left blinker and 1 for right blinker. You can find 3 of them feeding one tail light. Back probe each to find the color that controls what light. The other tail light wire will be a different color for that blinker. I'm sure there is a standard color scheme for a 4 wire plug but I do not know what color is for what light. The plug wire scheme has to be matched to your splicing or else you will hit the left blinker and the right blinker on the trailer will come on. Find out what the plug wire colors represent first.

That should be all you need to wire a 7-pin plug... if you only want a 4 pin plug just use the harness in the link above

Look up by the drivers side frame between it and the spare tire. A lot if not all Durangos have at least a 4 wire tied up in there for a basic 4 wire or upgraded 6 wire leads. Should be there so look REALLY hard! That should be all you need and you wire it to the hitch.
