Default Help!

I've got a 2000 durango 2wd with the 5.2. About a week ago i noticed a very slight vibration in the motor at idle. Didn't think anything about it. After a week of not driving it, I get in and start it, vibration from motor very strong and noticeable. It increases with rpm and is in perfect sync with the motor. It does not seem to be misfiring at all and isn't lacking in power at all. My 1st thought was harmonic balancer, but I'm really not sure.I've searched the threads and haven't really found anything that matches what I have.
Thanks in advance

If the harmonic balancer has slipped then when you put a timing light on it the mark won't come close to lining up on the block.

If you look at the harmonic balancer there is 2 pieces. The outer and the inner and both are metal, however there is a piece of rubber that sits between them. They look as a one piece single unit, but it is actually 2 pieces. What happens is this rubber spits and comes out from in between the 2 sections. So you should see rubber slightly sticking out the front (radiator side) of the balancer if this is what happened, which by description is what is wrong.

hydrashocker, you were 100% right! The seal between the two pieces is damaged. However it's poking out of the pack of the balancer. Does this mean I need to replace the whole unit or can that seal alone be replaced.
Thanks a million

Off to the parts shop I go then.
I assume it would be bad to run it like it is.

Not terrible but don't do any excess driving.

He he he,

Been there done that....LOL

Yes you have to replace the whole unit. Usually you have to remove the radiator and use a special tool to get it replaced.
