Yes I know straight pipes are loud etc etc but I really don't have $120 to spend on a flowmaster 40 at this time! I plan on clamping it so it will be easier to take off later! I need te truck to pass a safety (which I phoned the shop) and they will pass it straight piped. My muffler is soo rotten I can put my finger thought it... It will NOT pass a safety like it is!

Glasspack, sounds better than straight pipes and they are cheap. I have a 35" overall with a 3" I/D glasspack with adapters to fit the 2.5" tubing. It sounds good and is surprisingly quiet, even cruising at 75mph.

How do you get it to fit the offset of the muffler?

Mine is also glass packed its all origional otherwise as far as pipe and cat it sounds really good with the 4.7 and you will be able to hear the radio at 60mph all you need is the glasspack 3 clamps and about a foot of 2.5 inch pipe flared at one end cut the muffler out put the glasspack on one end cut the other pipe to the right size and the flared end will go onto the original pipe and 2.5 into the glasspack then clamp but remember to really crank the clams down as much as you can and if available weld them together or they will leak. As for the offset on my 02 4.7l I was able to get away without having to modify anything the offset was not big enough to make a difference

Default Muffler

So I went and bought a flow master exhaust and put it on it sounds nice and quite to but I want it a little louder does anyone know if I were to put a cherry bomb or a glass pack before the muffler would it make it louder? Should I just take the muffler and replace it with a cherybomb or glass pack instead? Can someone let me know which would sound better?

I had the same issues as you with my muffler rotting out it sounded terrible with the exhaust leak on the muffler and this was the cheapest way to fix it and make it sound good at the same time but now its leaking at the manifolds so I'm not going to try to save it anymore just going to replace everything and do it good

No it will be quieter with a glasspack in front of the flowmaster. If your area isint very strick about emmisions then I would reccomend removing the cat but u can be fined quite a bit in some areas. If you replace the flowmaster with a glasspack it will be a little louder because theres less restriction and it will give it a little more rap

Sorry I may have made a mistake about that last one just remembered I think I saw an o2 sensor behind the cat when I did my exhaust so Idk if I would remove it completely just replace it with a high flow cat and then it would still be legal too

The factory cats are very restrictive actualy sometimes even more than the muffler. There desinged to clean as much exhaust as they can but after a while carbon builds up and chokes up the engine. That was just an option for mtndewjew though to make his exhaust a little louder and if he already has the flowmaster than it would sound better with a high flow cat and be a little louder
