CV Joints are tough, I noticed my drivers side outer cv joint boot was ripped at least 2-3 years ago, theres still grease in the boot but its slung everywere, untill it starts clicking around turns im gunna keep drivin on it then spend the $80 on a new one.

I dont know how long mine has been torn for now but it is making a bad clunk when I take off from a stop in reverse or drive. Im gonna replace it this weekend. A new one at Napa was only $53.00.
