My 2000 Durango 4.7 needs a new engine or a rebuild. I am thinking of doing an engine swap but want to make sure that I did my homework correctly. Is it correct that I can take an engine out of any vehicle with the 4.7 as long as it has 3 connectors on the computer. I have a 2000 with the JTEC system. So any Ram, Cherokee, durango, etc. would work as long as it is a 4.7 with JTEC system? Does anyone have a master list that would show all vehicles with this engine. Thanks.

Want to make it easy on yourself, look for another 2000.

 

Thank you for the response. If I cannot find a 2000 engine how can I know which tone ring a vehicle has. Are there vehicles using the JTEC system that have 32 T tone rings?

 

you are correct the tone ring changed when the PCM changed, the 3 plug jtec PCMs used one size tone ring (16t iirc) and the 4 plug NGC PCMs used another size (32t iirc).

although i agree with indy a 2000 4.7 would be the best
