It's been almost 1 year since I posted on this topic... My D has now 130K on it and my total repair bill is approx. $5000 LOL

Maybe it didn't need that much repair but I'm a perfectionist and I want every little detail to be ok on my baby...

here's my baby;

and here's the repair list;

Code:
belt & belt tensioner replaced with new ones
exhaust changed with new tail pipe and new muffler (fm super 40)
 K&N Cold Air Intake installed
 ventilation system fixed
 iridium spark plugs installed
rotor, ignition coil and distributor cap and cables replaced with high quality ones
 TPS module replaced
 shafts were leaking oil, fixed
refilled oil to all shafts and the transfer case
throttle body and fuel injector cleaning
transmission fluid + filter + basket changed
 new shocks installed (monroe sensatrac)
PCM module replaced and installed high performance software for the engine (about ~20hp gain)
180 tstat installed with new coolant fluid
4x4 transfer shaft replaced (rebuilt), old one was junk
power windows fixed, electrical cables inside the doors are renewed
 rear window wiper motor replaced
new brake kit installed with drilled rotors and ceramic pads
 rear wheel studs replaced
rear drums and brakes completely rebuilt
front left wheel hub and bearing replaced
 front left tie rod replaced
 door rubbers checked and tightened
all the rust and dirt has been cleaned from under the car and sprayed with a protector
corroded battery terminals cleaned and sprayed
 tailgate struts replaced
pcv valve replaced
alpine speakers installed (old ones were blown)
she has been running like a butterfly for the last couple of months, I hope I won't have to repair anything else... though transmission seems a bit sloppy since I bought the car but I don't think it's gonna be a problem for a long time. It just slips when switching from 3rd gear to 4th gear sometimes but corrects itself immediately after doing it, not a big deal.

Adjust the bands if it is a 44re/46re trans. Do a search lots of threads and material on it.

Just hitting 174k, just getting broke in.

got 229333 on our 1998 5.2L.

smokes a little at startup, but still runs for now,

dont plan on dropping alot of money into it if it is major, will let it die slowly. we got it cheap, so if it makes it another 9 months, im happy as heck. it runs like a top, other than the slight smoking.

Update
Our 98 5.9L will very soon roll over to 389,000 miles. We've had to do some work but nothing too major. Proud of her as she still purrs like a kitten! Shooting for 500,000+!
