Arrow Key Fobs

I may be leaning on the side of stupidity here, but I am sure my 99 had key fobs at one time. If I don't have any, do I have to take it to the dealer to have the first one set to program a second one? This is the first time I have ran into this issue...

Yes, the dealer charges around $50 for a new keyfob and then another $50 to program it. Once you have one that is programmed, you can then program any others you buy from that one.

Yes, i wish the dealer only charged $50 bucks! I just got a quote for one about 2 months ago and it was in the ballpark of $140 bucks...

before going and buying Fob's make sure you have keyless entry, easiest way to find out is on your build sheet... if you have it you can buy them on amazon for around 30 bucks....

Amazon Amazon

As for the programming call around to local locksmith's ... i had mine done for under $20 bucks

It does have keyless entry. The guy I bought it from emailed me today stating the previous owner found it...well bits and pieces, apparently the guy ran over it with his mower. I don't know how you do that, but ok. I have looked on Ebay as well as Amazon. I have a buddy who works for a Dodge dealer, and my brother works for a used car lot in the body shop, so I doubt I would pay anything for programming..lucky me!!

If you do not have key fobs at all they will need to remove your dash board look at the Security module box under your dash board passenger side near glove box. then they take that number set it in to the DCM programming device then re-key new fobs to it.

Now if you had just one key fob you can program it your self by turning your ignition to acc while holding the panic button and lock button on your existing fob.

it will cost about 300+ dollars

Not sure what to tell you bud. Maybe the price has gone up in the past three years or your dealer overcharges?

Personally, I think key fobs are entirely overpriced from the dealer. I ordered 2 key fobs off of ebay for $22.95, free shipping. I called my buddy that works for the dodge dealer, he told me to run by his house so he can get the RKE security code..I'm gonna end up paying $25 since I have to bring it in during work hours...So less than $50, I'm not gonna complain..

Tank, if you have not gone to the stealership to get the FOB key. Try this site.

http://www.remotesandkeys.com/Produc...uctCode=3112RF

You can buy the oem remotes from this site and they even have the steps to program it yourself. (some remotes cannot be programmed yourself depending on year model of the durango). I know the 98 model has to be taken to dealership. But it is possible to program it yourself for the 99-2000 model.

A locksmith can also program these, they tend to charge less too. They can also do the chip keys on cars that use them (Ds starting in 01 do).
