Default limited slip install / swap?

I have a suregrip limited slip from the rear end from my 74 RamCharger that is in excellent shape.
would this fit into the rear axle of my 2000 durango??? tired of a open diff, and getting stuck in the most miniscule puddles/ snow banks etc... the gears and such are all fine, just want a lS, with out the $$$ the LS suregrip unbolts from the ring gear, so i could put it in the Durango, if it fits the case etc...
any thoughts? issues?
has anyone installed a LS in their D?
outcome?

yes people have installed limited slips/lockers in their D and it works out ok, as for will the one from you 74RC fit, im not sure what you mean by RC, if you mean regular cab (as in a ram p/u) its possible if they both have the same axle then yes.

Default L/S in durango?

the suregrip is from my 74' ramcharger 4x4, with the chrysler 1/2 ton 9 1/4? or 8 3/4 ?? rear axle. not sure on spline count. but sure its a 3.73 ratio.

what axle is under the back of our d's???? do they differ by generation? 1,2,3???

I've been researching LSDs lately and I've noticed that when you look them up there are ones that say 84 (might be 85) and up and 84 and older. I think the difference has to do with the abs pickup. I'm not sure if you'd be able to get your abs part to work with the older unit.

I think it won't but not positive. Why not just get a Detroit locker. Yeah its not free but free might not work. Or find a junkyard axle with the factory LSD

the 3.73 gear ratio will be a problem since you will then need to find a set of 3.73 gears to put into the front end in order to match it up to the rear, if i were you i would simply buy something new for the rear.

It's possible to switch the gears out for his own

only if the existing gears are in good shape, i read this as his gears are shot and he wants to replace them, if thats not the case then yes it is very likely possible

I would just find another D in a junkyard or ram with the same Diff and pull the lsd out of it, but thats just me.
