i just bought the truck in the middle of march. so i have no clue when or if it had ever been serviced. which i do not beleive it ever has. it still had the stock metal encased filter on it. but a few weeks ago i did the filter and fluid change. i did not do a band adjustment simply because i had never done one on a vehicle with that tranny so have no idea how to do it. but im guessing it intails me dropping the pan again? if so can i reuse the fluid i just put into it. also would the tv cable and bands not being properly adjusted cause it to slip after it has been running for a while and gotten hot? cuz im having that problem to. after i stop and try to pull away it will either slip and then engage hard, or it will progressively slip into grear slowly. causing me to rev the truck just for it to roll forward. but i also want to add that it will not slip in reverse.

here's a idea find your self a repair shop you can trust they have the training and equipment to properly diagnose proplems you speak of. They spend a lot of time and mony on the proper equipment to fix cars today. AUTOZONE sells parts if you have not adjusted the trans bands before it's diffacult and can caus complete failure if not done correctly!

Don't you think if he wanted take it to a shop he would have? The point of this forum is to help figure out problems not just tell someone to go to a shop.

Pm mastertech, he is the resident tranny guru

can you do the band adjustments without taking off the tranny pan? if so where do i find the bolt to do it. i did it on my buddies dodge van last year and it was easy to locate the bolt and we got the torque specs and how to back it off. but i looked under my d and i didnt see and bolts in the same area as his. so i figured it was a harder job than it was and just didnt do it. but if you or anyone out there has a picture of the bolt and location on the tranny and the specs on it, i would be more than happy to do it myself. but if i got to dropp the pan to it, it may be a while befor i am able to get to it. if you know what i mean. lol.
also i want to add, how everyone here on this forum is so awesome and all they want to do is help ppl, or try to trouble shot there problems. i dont know what i would do if it werent for you guys. i know i would have a alot less money in the bank. lol.
so thanks. and god bless!
