I noticed the value in mine really fall lately. Rams and daks still holding good. Simply put these trucks aren't the size of a tahoe or suburban (which get the same or better mpgs) and they aren't as small or economical as blazers and explorers. They are an in between vehicle. They are tanks and very reliable in general but most people want the room not the off road ability and towing ability doesnt affect most people, if they want that they get a crew cab pickup. Simply put they were built for everything but people generally want a vehicle built for some things, better for us cause we know how nice they are and can pick them up cheap now.

When I found mine, I was looking for a Trail Blazer. Come to find out, the Trail Blazer was crap and my D was sitting right next to it. I was never into Dodge, it never interested me. For some odd reason I just thought, what the heck I don't want it, I just want to see how they run. That single test drive turn my whole world of Dodge around. That short test drive I fell in love with it!! Now Dodge is all I want. Looking for a Ram as well now. Point being, I think many people have those same thoughts about Dodges or even just Durangos. Like adukart said, its just in the middle.

who do you know with a tahoe or suburban that gets better mpgs than a durango, those tanks get around 13-15 fromw hat i hear and rangos can get as much as 20 or 21 if properly maintained and driven.

as for the size being in between, yes that is true however it is a perfect balance of everything in terms of use options.

I would be thoroughly amazed if anyone could consistently get that mpg in a Durango.

over the last 3 weeks i have been getting 18.5 plus doing mixed driving of about 65% highway, i tend to get around 17 flat round town, that puts me right around 20 on the highway if not slightly above.

Well I'm jealous then. I usually average between 14 and 15 with 75% city and 25% highway. Right now I'm down to around 12.5 because my fan clutch isn't disengaging properly, but I'm waiting for parts to get in to fix it. On a nothing but highway trip to myrtle beach I managed 16.5. I guess the weather here isn't helping anything though. It's been around 110 and humid here all week so I've had the a/c on full blast.

My mom gets 14 city 18-19 hwy with q 99 tahoe 5.7l with 215k on it and my dads friend has a 99 suburban that gets 13city and 17hwy 5.7l with 502k on it (not a typo there). I have never seen those mpg figures. Now I should have clarified cause the 4.7l was much better on gas then the 5.x's especially the 5.9l.

I'm not sure of my mpg but I drive to about half a tank and get exactly 200miles on that half. Mine is a 4.7L and I'm fairly light on the pedal. I would say 50% city 50% highway, but varies.
