Default tranny question.

ok so for a while i have had issues relating to my transmission. befor i unplugged my tranny and used the shifter and it worked fine. but it also worked fine with it plugged in, off and on. well lately i have had to do some far driving due to getting maried saturday. and on my hauls i have noticed that when driving far distances after a while of stop and go my truck wont shift out of a higher gear and it just slips untill it engages. so i didnt unplug the tranny cord from the tranny but instead i have just been using the shifter when driving far distances and it has been doing great. i also adjusted my bands but they were right below a 1/2 inch so i put em at 3/8 right inbetween at the sweet spot. and its still doing the same thing.
now heres the question.
does that mean that my shift sylenoid is bad?
cuz i dont want to go buy it istall it and have the same issues.
thank you for your time.

Don't need to send me a pm. Is the check engine light on? If it is, what are the codes. Are you getting a P1756 or P1757 codes?

got my codes read and i had 2 codes pop up. p1757 and p0420. i talked to the guy there and he said the p0420 code could be bad o2 sensors or a bad catalitic conerter. and the p1757 could be either internal short on circuit or my hift sylenoid is bad. so i guess first things firts. take off my o2 sensors and clean em an get em tested and i have to take my truck to a tranny specialist and have them put there cpu on it and have them test that.
am i right?

Personally I'd just replace the O2 sensors, chances are they're just dead from being in there for 14 years in the heat. As for the solenoid, most likely its bad, unless you notice any damaged wiring, no clue whats involved in replacing it though.
