Default 2001 rango 5.9 hungry for crank sensors

hey every one im new here. just got my durango about a month ago. me and a couple of buddies put a torque converter in it and now it eats up the end of the crank sensors. i was wondering what i could have done wrong to throw off the flexplate or crank sensor enough to do that. where it hits on the end is a round shape with grooves all around, almost looks like splines or something. as far as i know the sensor only goes in one way and there is no adjustment to my knowledge.

Welcome to DF
I would guess the flex plate was damage when either removing the transmission or installing the trans.
