I just did this in my 1998 Ram, and it's the same procedure for you so this should be exactly what you needed.

wow old school that vid was a great help. tomorrow night im going to replace the gov pres solenoid. also i didnt know that it was a dealer part. i tried auto zone and advance auto. they have em listed online but not available at the stores. so i called my local dodge dealer and beleive it or not for once a dealer part is cheaper than an auto parts store. 118.08. so im happy. lol. also thanks again everyone else.
im sure glad i got you guys here. im also glad that this procedure doesnt include having to remove the valve body.

that video was an awesome help. it was so simple. the hardest part is dropping the pan without spilling any fluid. obviously i used a large roaster pan. and filtered the fluid befor i put it back in. as always thanks again!

I would not recommend re using fluid but, if times are rough and you have to (been there myself a few times) just drain the fluid into a clean pan and you should be okay. Installing a universal drain plug is helpful in cutting down on the mess but, make sure to install metal washers on top of the nylon washers or the plug will leak.

Thanks! When I am done installing the OD/ Lockup Solenoid. It basically is the same as this job but I have to take off the valve body. After thats all said and done, About how many quarts do you think I will need? I just had my fluid drained and replaced with new tran fluid a week prior to working on my truck, thats why I wanted to reuse it. Its brand new fluid but if you still recommend not using it I get it.
