Smile my d is acin wierd

hey guys i have a 2002 durango sxt 4.7. i just got the ac charged and it works great but when i have it on and i am drivin my d acts like it has an engine brake as soon as i let off the gas. idk what is goin with it never seen another vehicle do this before. i can be drivin down the interstate and when i let off the gas my rpms jump up and it feels like my trans downshifts is this normal and somethin i just gotta get used to or is somethin messed up.
thanks in advancesss

yeah the extra heat from the a/c condenser could be exaggerating the effect of a bad fan clutch. Check to see if your electric fan is working; if it's not working it could be causing an extra load on the mechanical fan and causing it to be engaged more than it needs to be.

sounds to me like the trans is downshifting for some reason, i would get in touch with master tech and see what he thinks, he is the local transmission expert.

Were you having this problem before the A/C service? There are a few reason for the transmission to come out of lock up, 1 letting your foot off the gas and the RPM will come up, 2 the brake light switch will do the same thing and will cause the transmission to down shift. The most common problem has been the TPS, Buy Mopar not aftermarket. If the temp is raising to a point to overheat, the transmission will down shift and fan clutch should give you a loud sound from the front of the engine. And i would also check the ground wires on each side of the engine block too.

I would buy a Mopar sensor. I have had too many problems with aftermarket sensors.
