If I had to venture a guess I would say that replacing the PCM will fix the problem. I've had to replace it twice and the symptoms you described are very similar to what was happening to me. Are you noticing any other problems? (how does your cruise control work?) The "nobus" is exactly what was happening to me both times, causing it to randomly die while driving and occasionally not start. Best of luck getting that fixed!

hopefully the new PCM fixes it, on your model year they usually dont give any problems, if you had a 98-00 it would have been near the top with these symptoms, also since it is an expensive part which needs to be programmed in order to work properly. Since it has been ordered hopefully it will fix it, im sorry it had to come to that

depending on where your located, this is what I have done because it happend too me twice this year. Got ahold of a couple of parts places they usually know of a company that rebuilds them. In my case a place called blue streak actually down the street from me rebuilds chrysler computers. I go directy to them and they will do the following;

1. Test
2. Rebuild if needed.

If it passes the test its $50.00 for only the test.

If it failes and requires rebuild its $150.00

My pcm has been rebuilt twice this year. The placement of the PCM sucks and I think its because of water. Personally "no bus" 99.9 percent of the time is the pcm.

The cruise control worked fine on my way to Minnesota - not sure if it was functioning when my Rango kept dieing.

OntarioRT59 - did your PCM get wet? Now that I think of it, I did go through some water. We had over 4 inches of rain one night and lots of lightning flashed. I was looking at the lightning and hit a puddle going 25-30 through town. Could that have got my PCM wet and caused failure?

PCM fixed the problem but now my ABS and Brake indicator lights are coming on.
