Question Is a 46RE 2WD interchangeable with a 46RE AWD

2002 Durango 5.9L w/ 46RE AWD Can a 46RE 2WD transmission replace a 46RE AWD transmission? And if so does the output shaft have to be swapped over?

Not sure about the output shaft but the transmission isnt 4wd awd or 2wd. The transfer case is what makes it awd 4wd. The transmission is the same

Yes, they can be swapped. If you have a 4x2, you would need to replace the 4x4 adapter and install the overdrive unit on the new trans.
