Default Sea Foam

Hey guys, I have been doing some research on sea foam and reading both reviews and testimonials from people who have used the product. The majority of these people said they have had great results, and swear by sea foam. On the other hand, I have heard stories of people using this product, and not being able to start their vehicle afterwards. I have a 2003 Dodge Durango with a 4.7 V8 with a little over 102,000 miles on it. I wanted your guys input if you have had any experience with this product, and if you think its wise to use this for an engine treatment with this mileage. Thanks for the input.

I swear by the stuff. I usually add half a can to my oil about 50 miles before an oil change and the other half I slowly suck through my brake booster hose. And occasionally a full can to a full gas tank. Works wonders for me

as long as you suck it through the vac hose you shouldnt have any problems, the people who claim to have a no start after using it probably poured it into the TB and basically hydro locked a running engine (not good i promise)

Previously I've used it in the gas or through the brake booster hose. Last week I dared to add it into the oil. It was a real headturner! The engine had incurred some klunking noise at startup, especially if it had been sitting for a few days. I planned to run it a few days with sea foam in oil, maybe a week or two, while I continously would check color via the dipstick. The very next day I felt for an oil change with new filter. The oil had become significantly darker, while the engine's sound already was completely different. I drove maybe 40 miles before I drained it. Didn't dare to go further because of rumors of clogged engines.

My engine is like reborn! Responce is considerably quicker and sound is less. The tranny feels like shifting smoother, but could be imagination since I was so pleasantly surprised. Kickdowns are awesome now. Cruise control engages very smooth now, it felt like a whiplash earlier and going uphill it's no more struggling to keep the speed set. If gas mileage also increases slightly, I won't be surprised, but I can't talk about it yet. I've had some active driving habits these days to feel my tired horses are reborn

Facts:
1999 Dodge Durango 5.9 V8, run 5W-40 synthetic blend
Tried QMI's engine cleaner in 2008/09, 65.000 miles, no noticeable effect.
Tried Wynn's engine cleaner in 2011, 83.000 miles, no noticeable effect.
Sea Foam engine cleaner, november 2012, 89.000 miles, impressed!

I was sitting on nails that 40 miles I ran the engine cleaner, today I just smile and smile. I will do this to my other cars too.

I have used it multiple times before with similar mileage and never had any problems. I poured into the vac hose and gas thank with no issues whatsoever, I've never poured into the oil and I would be hesitant to, but after reading that post maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Anyway as long as you don't pour into the TB you'll be fine.

Why do some applications call for you to throw it down the TB? I hear a lot of people say NOT to put it in the TB.

Is this only for the 4.7L?

you shouldnt pour it down the TB you run the risk of hydro-locking the engine,

however burning it through the brake booster pulls it in slowly enough that it will combust and burn out all the carbon in the engine, this applies to any engines.
