Sugguesting a 1st gen durango club with benifits
while i served in the marines a bunch of friends and i decided to start up a car club, "ford freaks"! lol.
back then i had ordered a brand new 2003 ford focus zx3 with the 2.3ltr duritec engine. very few were made with the 2.3ltr engine, and they were all special order, due to the change to the body and interior for 2004. up to 2004 almost all of the focus's built had the 2Ltr ztec or the 2Ltr duritec.
Anyways the club started with only 25 members in the first year.
then it grew, tremendously! by the time i got out we had over 200 members and had changed the name.
after we started getting more and more members, we decided to start having weekly meetings and monthly shows.
every month all the members put $10 into a pot and each month we would do a drawing, all the money in the pot would go to that person who won the drawing, the money had to used for there vehicle. any way possibly, wether it be interior exterior or for the suspension or drivetrain.
mainly ppl would get rims and body kits and little tweak parts for there engines or upgraded suspension systems, and so on.
here and now i propose that we start a 1st gen durango club.
obviously we wouldnt be able to have meetings or all of us meet and have a car show free to the public. like i did in nc.
but we could do a pot type deal.
every ones name goes into a pot and every month or 2 or 3. we can all put in as much money as decided, and that money would go to the winner.
so we could do it 4 times a year every 3 months, and every 3 months we would accept new members, they would pay there dues and get there names put into the pot.
if you win the pot your name gets taken out for a few years. and you must prove to the rest of the members by means of photocopies of receipts and photos of your build and or fixing of your vehicle.
obviously with this money not everyone will win, its a lottery. if you want to member of the club but you dont want to participate with the lottery thats your choice.
if we have enough members we can do more than 1 drawing quarterly and have more ppl be winners.
when i was in that club i never won the pot, and i understood that it was for the betterment of the group.
back then i was single and i had a bunch of time on my hands and i spent a good portion of my day every day at the hobby shop on base helping out other members with there vehicles.
it was a blast.
honestly if we do a drawing quartely, thats every 12 weeks and if we all put into a pot $25-$50 and even if we only got 50 members. thats $2500 quartely that could go to 1 or 2 ppl, to either fix or upgrade there "D".
i would do it. honestly whats $50 every 3 months 12 weeks. thats less than 5 bucks a week ppl!!!!!!
and just think that cash could go to you!!!!
would you want to be that person, man or woman, that got that cash to upgrade or fix your "d"?
i know i would!!
so come on ppl.
lets hear your input!
yes or no.
if no, dont go into a whole long speach about how it wont work, or how its not fair.
just immagine you being the winner. how great it would feel.
i would like to get at least 25ppl as members befor we do any drawings.
if you want to join and if your one of those ppl thats had experience in a car or truck club, send me a private message and we can all talk logistics about how this club will end up working.
depending on experience with the 1st gen durangos we will have to hold a voting pool on whos going to lead this(president), whos going to be incharge of the money(accountant), whos going to be incharge of the applications for new members(secretary), and so on.
this has been a thought of mine lingering in the back of my head since i joined.
i know we can make it work.
so hit me up ppl!
lets see whos down for this.

I think that the idea of getting people together for the raffle part sounds like a cool idea if we could get the people together to do it. I dunno if we could put something together here for our section to do that but, something tells me there would be alot of unwanted issues from people on the other sections not being included...
As for a Durango club, There is already a pretty big one that many here are already a member of, hell they even got active members who have long sold there D's called the Durango Owners Club(wwwdotdurangoclubdotcom) that meets once a year at the Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle, PA..

well just like the car club i was in while in the marines, we decided to expand to all cars. we may have to do that with this to get some actuial feedback.
even if we didnt do it as a car club type of thing, it could be a dodge forum lottery for parts club.
and if we got enough members we could possibly get vynal windshield decals made for everyone " durango, ram, dakota, etc..." or tee shirts. or hats, something. anything. lol.

I am in South Central PA, about 25 mins from the MD border or 20-25 mins from Carlisle/Harrisburg, PA
i think it would be a hell of an idea, gives people a reason to show off there builds and gives others ideas towards there goals, their should be enough of us first gen. durango loves out there to get a good group of us started up at least 20 and set together some ground rules, and for thoughs with other makes and models that get pissy then all they need to do is start up there own gens group. Simple and could be a lot of fun. Let me know whats goin on with it!

well when ppl see intrest in it and how it could benifit us as a whole. even if it is just us 1st gen's. 20 ppl or so if we do it by monthly or quarterly $50 a head for 20 ppl would be $1,000 and a good chunk of money to do some mods,
hell for a grand you could get the f1 air gapper intake kit from hughes engines and there throttle body. thats one hell of a mod!!!!
even if we decided to set up an account and have ppl deposit money via internet and use it to set up prizes.
1st place drawing is the manifold kit and t/b.
2nd place drawing is a brush guard.
or if we had enough ppl.
1st place drawing is the rough country 5.5" suspension lift
2nd place is the intake kit and t/b
or something allong those lines.
or we could do cash winnings.
but if we did that ppl would have to show proof of purchases and show photos of the mods that they did with the money.
and absolutely no paying off bills or using it otherwise.
it would be strictly for mods or for fixing there vehicles.
and we would have to get a cashiers check made out to the winner cuz we would have to mail it to the winner, or if the winner decided he would rather give us his account # we could deposit it into his account.
we just have to figure out a way to get the word out to everyone on this 1st gen forum, so every one would know about it and the benifits that went along with it.
