Default JTEC to NGC swap

Has anyone successfully switch a D from the Jtec system over to the NGC system??

Im curious because i want to use a engine that was setup for the NGC system in a truck that has the JTEC system in it.
I know most will say to just switch the tone ring out to a 16 tooth ring, But im curious as to which will take more time and money to do. Change the engine to match the truck or change the truck to match the engine.
So far from my searching i've found that i will need the wiring harness, PCM and TCM from an NGC truck. Are there any other items that are needed? Will the dash and cluster operate correctly with a harness change over? Are all the sensors and connections the same between systems?? Will any rewiring be needed?

Also what extras came with the NGC systems? I assume if it was an upgraded system then it should have some pluses to it right?

TIA

o ok i see so thats the reason for the extra plug... good to know.

I was reading that it is likely that using the ngc system will change the trans into a 5speed auto. is this true? cause if so then that would mean the trans was geared as a 5speed to start with but the jtec system only used 4 gears...

thats exactly the case, the NGC controller uses all 5 gears in the 45/545 hardware while the jtec and TCM is only programmed to use 4 (these numbers are not including the kickdown 2nd)

So Ideally the NGC system will give better gas mileage...?

Im trying to find a good reason to go through the headache of rewiring this truck. If i could get significantly better gas mileage that would sound like a good excuse to me.

in theorey, yes, however i wouldnt call the increase significant, and it iwll be negligible around town, only stright highway will improve since all the gear ratios are the same
