Default New to Dodge Need help.

I just purchased a 2001 Durango SLT 4x2 with 123K+ miles. The engine & transmission seems to be in good condition, but there are a few issues. The AC doesn't blow cold or come out through the front vents. It appears that the compressor has been recently changed but it does not kick on when adding freon. Also, the speedometer doesn't work. The other gauges seem to be ok but the check engine light, brake light, fuel light (even though there is plenty of gas in it) & airbag light stays on. I will be changing the brake pads today. I know these are separate issues, but any help would be appreciated.

P0500 No Vehicle Speed Sens Signal
this would likely be the cause of your no speedometer issue, is most likely referring to the sensor over the rear differential, but the output speed sensor on the transmission is also used for speedometer output.

It is possible your clock spring on the steering wheel has gone bad that can cause the indicator lights to go off on your dashboard.

The speedometer not working is the speed sensor. When you replace that, go ahead and replace the tranny sensor as well as they both work together.
