Default Heated Mirrors

I have a 99 SLT, 5.2, 256K and still getting 14.3 mpg, with heated mirrors that are cracked.

I read the following post:

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...hell-help.html

And I can't tell if his mirrors were heated after replacing the glass or not.

Is the heating element part of the glass or separate? Or can I just replace with a suitably sized mirror replacement and end up with heated mirrors.

The heating element is part of the glass ... Rockauto is the cheapest i found @ $23 bucks per side..

Note: the 6x9 Dumbo style mirrors where the only ones that come standard OEM with heat, They also make a non-heated Dumbo as i have learned. If you have anything else you would have to go aftermarket to get the heat added.. AFAIK there are no aftermarket glass pieces for the 5x 7 sport mirrors.

does anyone know if you got a Durango with the 5x7 mirrors if the wiring is in place for the heating element? I would just get a set of the dumbo mirrors with heat to change them to if the wiring is there as I like the bigger mirrors when towing

EDIT: My apologies I found the answer in a different thread when doing a re-phrased search... And to put the answer in this thread the answer is yes as long as you have the rear defroster.
