Unhappy 1999 Durango 5.2. Dropped Crankshaft Position Sensor Gasket into engine. HELP.

Hey, I had the trouble "NO Bus" issue. I changed the PCM and 4 sensors because nothing seemed to be the problem. I have just tried swapping out the Crankshaft Position Sensor behind the block and as I was putting in the new one the gasket fell into the mount hole. I have been trying like hell for an hour to get it out with mechanical fingers to no avail. What can I do vice calling someone and paying out my ***?

It probably came out the bottom in the space betweenthe block and bellhousing. this just happened to me it came out when i tried to start it.

Anyone kno how to get that crank sensor back in with the rubber grommet? It seems impossible in that tiny area.

I don't remember there being any gasket or grommet on the crankshaft position sensor (assuming you're talking about the 5.2 or 5.9). Are you thinking of the camshaft sensor maybe?

No sir. i am talkin about the crank position sensor located between the block and bellhousing.accessible thru the passenger side wheel well. there is a rubber grommet that goes between the bell housing and the sensor. if you didnt have this grommet that may be a sign that its been previosly replaced.the cam sensor(sometimes called pick- up) you speak of is in the distributor. If i am not mistaken.

The only "no bus" issues I have ever seen were bad pcms or plug. You sure you don't have a bad pcm plug or pin?

I replaced my crankshaft position sensor a few years ago and there was no grommet on the old one or with the new one.
