Check engine light stays on
Yeah...thats what was going on with my Durango Sport...changed the clockspring and the check engine/abs light went off and the cruise control and horn started working again
Thanks for the input. I tried Duralude09's trick, disconnect neg terminal, held the key in the run position for 6 secs. The light is still on.
I put a new gas cap on her, that didn't work... any other ideas?

The clockspring is a round plastic device that sets behind the airbag on the steering wheel. It consists of a coiled metal ribbon designed to be able to remain fixed to the steering wheel, while also allowing for the turning of the wheel. It provides power to the airbag, horn, cruise control switches, and steering wheel mounted radio controls if equipped, through the metal ribbon. Usually if it's bad you will rear a rattling noise when you turn the wheel, or you won't have the use of any of the above mentioned items. On my 2001, my Airbag light was illuminated, and I had no use of my horn. My cruise control and radio switches still worked properly.
You can buy one online for $50 brand new. A 2000 and a 2001 clockspring are different and will not work. Not that I'd expect you to mistake them, as the 2001-2003 clocksprings are $200.

I don't know why, but resetting the PCM 6 or 7 times in a row worked after I cleaned my grounds. The first few times it didn't work. I got a pdf from mastertech that I can't find now, but that was one of the things it said to do for figuring out my electrical glitch.
