Default 98 Durango Gas Pumping Issues

everytime I have had to pump gas I have noticed theirs something wrong with the ability for my truck to suck the gas down, I literally have to trickle the gas in, if I put any more pressure on the handle of the nozzle it cuts off.

to put in 10 bucks of gas takes 10 minutes

this has nothing to do with the pump cause regardless what station I goto it just doesnt wanna take in the gas except at a trickle.

any idea's?

Check to see if you have a kink in the filler tube hose that goes from the tank to the filling spout.

As mentioned in the other thread, maybe replace the filler tube and check to see if something is lodged keeping the stopper in place.

Run a piece of hose down the filler to see if it's clear, like small diameter garden hose with the metal end cut off (scrap hose? hey, I have some, pack-rat too much I guess). ... something that is just the size of the restrictor hole at the top of the filler. If that goes in somewhat cleanly, then ????

Well I got that tire down & looked at both the tubes going to the tank & I don't see any kinks or crimps in it, both tubes seem to kept their shape right to the tank.

So what Im thinking is this is a air release/vent prob. when I pump gas ( remember its NOT the pump ) I cant even hold it at the slowest pace without it stopping and clicking off after 10 cents, It never has spit back out at me but has trickled out once when i tried keeping the noozle as far out as possible, but like I said its not the pump, or how i position the handle, how far its in or out the fill hole, it is the pressure of the gas going in not venting out it seems.

this has led me down a few paths, one being a charcoal filter? on or in the tank? or a celenoid/selenoid however its spelled, lol could be an issue as well.

Im trying to figure it out cause my mechanic said this could be a pain in the *** kinda thing to figure out & I wanna put him on the right path 1st, I can try to find some sort of tubing to stick down into the tank but will this actually go into the tank or will it hit say a filter in their?

well i have got a 5' piece of 1/4 tubing im gonna attempt to run down the fill valve tomorrow to see if I have anything in their that could be causing the issue but I was thinking just exactly what am I shooting for here, I imagine im going to eventually run into something with the tube so when I put the tubing in how far should that go till I should expect it to stop? Will it actually be in the tank? or is their a filter before that? the anti gas theft valve as well?

What should be my goal here cause im kinda confused about it.

Thanks...

My thought above suggesting the 'use a hose to see if the filler is clear' was based upon my older vehicles. I just looked at the FSM for my '01 and it has two rollover valves. One is associated with the pump system at the center top of the tank, and the other is called the 'rear valve', which is apparently associated with the filler neck and vent. I doubt inserting a hose will work. I'd pull the tank and see what's what.
