Default Padded Dash Cover Peeling

This is a new one I can not find any info on. The dash on my 01 D is peeling from the front of the dash back towards the driver. It started in the left side and is now about to the middle. You can see the white Styrofoam structure of the dash. My question is can the dash be removed and a new one installed or can this be repaired? Has anyone ever seen this? I am thinking it only happens to vehicles in hot climates like the south or southwest.

The 2001 FSM says how to replace the dash top parts. It's not trivial (doesn't just pop of or the like). It pretty much strips down all the dash coverings, even says to remove the center console.

Definetly interested in this problem. Mine is starting to peel on my 02. What type of glue/adhesive would work? Thanks

I have a cracked windshield so I thought it would be a good time when windshield is out to heat the cover material and spray new layer of glue and just basically reattach it. I have a friend that manages Rick Hendrix collision center here in North Carolina looking up a repair or replacement for this cover. What ever is most cost effective will rule! Jeeper Don is your FSM a bona fide shop manual or a Chiltons? If a real shop manual where did you purchase it?

I got the scoop on the dash cover! It is no longer available from the dealer sooo on to some other way to repair it. I will keep you posted if I figure out how to repair it in the mean time if any one else has a fix to report by all means please share it!

Until you repair/replace it you could get one of those dash covers. LMC truck has them (they might even have the whole dash).

our 01 is doing the same thing i was thinking along the same lines of you. our windshield is cracked so when i get around to changing it i plan to use spray adhesive to stick it back down. if you get yours done pleas post how well it worked for you as it will be next summer before i get around to fixing ours.(unless we get a ticket for the cracked windshield that is)

My dash is still in mint condition. Then again I have a dash mat completely covering and protecting my dash. Best thing ever and keeps your interior nice and cool during the hot summer months.
