Default 2000 d.dur 4.7 wont start !!! Please help

I have a 2000 dodge durango slt. up until yesterday it was running fine. It no longer starts. it wasnt stalling or spuddering when it was running.

I turn the key (all the electronics come on as supposed to) , then it starts turning over (with or without a batt charger) it turns turns turns boom boom (slight backfire) turns turns turns... The fuel pump comes on when i turn the key 3/4. I had someone with moderate experience in mechanics test the spark (he took the coil and wire off the plug, stuck a screw driver in the coil, touched it to some metal and i turned it over) he said there's no spark. I have a LIKE new battery. I am at a lost.. any information would help . THANKS

Question

Not trying to be smart, but does it have gas? The fuel level sensor went out in my 01 Ram, showed 1/4 tank of gas on the fuel gauge, and I had to get it towed to the shop. $60 part, but labor was $250.

we changed the fuel sensor, cam sensor, and right now we are trying to get the crank sensor out. the crank sensor, which is located on the block
broke off (flush with the block) so thats where we are at right now . trying to get this damn thing out without trashing the motor. If this doesnt work than it must be a timing issue
