2000 Durango 4.7L randomly won't start
As you can see by the title I have a 2000 Durango 4.7L that just recently has left me stranded twice due to not wanting to start. It's been running fine, no sputtering, no stalling, no check engine light etc. However when I went in to the grocery store the other night and came back out it wouldn't start. Fuel pump clicks on, it tries to turn over but just can't seem to get over the hill to actually start up. Had to leave it in the parking lot and went back the next day to tow it home and after pushing it backwards out of the parking space we tried it once more before hooking it up and it started right up and drove home perfectly. Drove it for a week with no problems then left me stranded at the bank doing the exact same thing. It rested overnight at the bank then when we went out the next day to tow it home it started up again. Suggestions on what to check please. At first the general consensus was crank sensor but with the no stalling no sputtering and happening twice now I'm having my doubts. I read that if that was the problem once it died it wouldn't start again at all. Also thats electrical, wouldn't my check engine light be on? Someone else mentioned maybe fuel pump is going bad? I am going to have my friend test the fuel pressure in a few days. Could it be something as simple as a clog in the fuel line or filter since its so random and has happened twice now? Would maybe just changing the fuel filter and adding a gas treatment possibly help?
