Default Horn doesn't work.

Hi all!
98 Durango SLT 5.2. The horn works with the panic button but nothing when I press on the steering wheel pad. Guessing it is a clock spring issue. I don't
want to buy a clock spring. I have a horn button and want to mount it on the dash. Can anyone tell me what wires I need to look for and can I find them with out taking the steering wheel apart?
Thanks
Doug!

It could be a clockspring or it could be the horn. If you apply 12 volts to the horn, does it blow? If it doesn't, then the horn is no good. You can also remove the air bag module and ground the horn to the column. It really isn't the hard to replace the clockspring. If you have any questions, you can post or send me a pm.

? He said it works with the panic button.

OP... Fix it right. If you are too afraid of the work to fix it right, have someone else fix it right.

Ain't afraid of nuthin! Am cheap though!
$2.00 button vs $100.00 clock-spring? No brainer in my mind!!!
I already eliminated a faulty horn. And the cruise control doesn't work which, according to my research indicates a clock-spring issue.

Don't forget that a bad clock-spring will also keep the airbag from working, so the $100 clock spring is a better choice IMO.

Your logic completely ignores the 'do it right' aspect of the solution.

Knock yourself out though.

Yeah, if the clockspring is bad you should replace it.

Never assume the horn is good when using the panic button. I have been there before.

Although this is the 1st Gen Durango Section, I'd venture to guess on the steering wheel. P
