Default 2001 Durango propeller shaft ?'s

on a 2001 Durango propeller shaft, is there supposed to be a rubber boot to cover the bearings? On the end that connects to the transfer case, I can look in there and see all the bearings, I looked on advanced auto and they sell a drive shaft propeller assembly kit and it has a boot and rubber where the drive shaft fits in. So should there be rubber around the part? I can also move the end that goes on the transfer case maybe 1/4 inch or so and when you put it in 4wd it has a grinding noise

What do you mean propeller shaft?

The drive shaft that connects the transfer case to the front CV axles??

I have my durango sitting infront of me right now so I can look before it gets too dark..

(posted this picture a minute ago so I already had it copied haha)

yes it comes from the transfer case to the front diff. The side that is connected to the transfer case, I can look at it and see the bearings inside sitting around what looks like a boat propeller, Im wanting to know if there is supposed to be a rubber boot or something there, also should I be able to move it up and down, side to side?

Sorry I washed the car, parked the truck then had to leave with the roommate to the pumpkin patch. I'll have to get it tomorrow. Sorry.

well I know there should be a boot on it by looking at replacement parts, but should the driveshaft on the transfer case move ?
