TCM 02 Durango
Does an 02 Durango with a 45RFE have a TCM? If so, were is it located? Also, where would the Torque Converter Clutch sensor be located? I'm getting a code for Torque Converter Clutch open circuit 0740. I just replaced the transmission line pressure sensor to help cure the 0868,0867 codes and my check engine light is back on so I'm assuming its the 0740 code? I'm getting the 0700 generic TCM code on the dash. Need to borrow a scan tool again to get into the tranny and see....just trying to figure out where the TCM actually is or is it part of another component.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I swapped my TCM out with one from a 2005 jeep grand Cherokee. Turned the four speed to a five speed auto.
If you have a 4.7 and early2002 build your TCM is located on passenger fender right behind headlight. Otherwise if you have a 5.9 or late 2002 build then your TCM is actually built into the ECU.

Sharp is sort of correct about the 5.9 engine doesn't have a TCM. But on the 44/46RE transmission the PCM controls the Torque converter lock up and overdrive. The PCM also has data for all the sensor and watches the governor pressures. On the other hand, why go out and buy a TCM from a jeep, when you could go to the dealer and have your TCM update to the latest software. Because there is a TSB to flash the TCM for the 45RFE to a 545RFE transmission. If you post me the p/n from your TCM, I can check your module for updates.

I went to www.car-part.com and got my jeep TCM for $45 shipped. Which was also cheaper than the “reprograming” fee they’d charge anyway (rough shifting and I know there was a TSB issued addressing the problem).
