Sometimes when I'm sitting idle in traffic or have recently started the vehicle, it makes a noise that's hard to describe. The best way I can put it is the noise that a car makes just prior to shutting down on its own. Mind you, it has never shut down but it makes that noise once in a while and it spans maybe 6 seconds or so. Any ideas what it is? Thanks

 

I would start by removing the fan belt and start the vehicle. Is the noise gone?
