Help, door stuck will not open
I have a 2000 Durango and I need to replace the driver's side rear door but the door is stuck and I cannot get it open. It's locked and I cannot unlock it. I have the replacement part but cannot put it on until I can get the door open. Any ideas how I can get it open?
where the power window switch is, pull the back of the plastic section up and then back ( the part the switch is mounted to). once this is out you should be able to reach up and feel the bar that the manual lock uses, move it towards the front. then try your handle, if the handle is disconnected, its bar is a little higher than the lock bar. move it towards the front to open the latch. if those bars don't move or don't open it, then you are going to have to remove as much of the mounting bolts for the door trim that you can, and probably have to break the plastic around the lower screws to lift up on it ( they are at the bottom of the door holding the trim on, covered by your door gasket).
