2003 Dodge Durango problems
Hi new to DF. My husband has a 2003 Dodge Durango 4x4. Its been running really loud lately. After surfing the net, it looked as if the driver's side hub may need to be replaced. He pulled into the driveway yesterday morning and 2 bearings fell out. Took it to Firestone and they its the driveshaft, but may also be something else. Really don't want to get robbed here, so I'm hoping someone can verify. Thanks in advance!

Be very careful of firestone. You need a good independent shop to look at the problem you are having. I going to move your post to the 1st gen Durango section. When the bearings fell out, was the front, middle or the rear?

I suggest you go to a smaller shop and have them take a second look. If you have ball bearings falling out, then even a half decent mechanic should be able to visually find the problem. Firestone is known for making people pay for something, then getting told that it wasn't even the problem in the first place.
It could be the wheel hub bearing or it could be the transfer c ase end of the front driveshaft. Where were the bearings that fell out? By the wheel or under the driver's seat?
My guess is that it is the drive shaft. The rear end of it is a very poor design in my opinion!
